NomadLAB Signal Spy & Protocol Analyzer

Ensure reliable NFC and Smart Card technology anywhere

Signal capture and protocol analysis for the complete range of contactless and contact technologies for smart cards and NFC systems in a portable, autonomous platform. NomadLAB brings the power of laboratory test tools everywhere that smart card technology is used and to anyone who needs them.

NomadLAB Protocol Analyzer

With NomadLAB, contact and contactless signal analysis technology that was previously reserved for R&D and certification laboratories, is available to engineers at all phases of the fielding of smart card and NFC solutions. Whether users are developing hardware and software, or supporting products in the field, NomadLAB provides visibility of communications between cards, readers and NFC systems that allows engineers to identify and solve a variety of interoperability problems.

NomadLAB provides signal capture and protocol analysis of technologies commonly used in payment and identity solutions including future NFC phones. This includes support of ISO 14443 (A, B types) protocol for 13.56 Mhz contactless smart cards, readers and systems, with the possibility to add support of NFC (IP1 and IP2) protocol. NomadLAB also supports ISO 7816 and SWP (HCI and HDLC) protocols for test of contact smart cards, USIM and their implementation in mobile phones. This complete coverage makes it possible for users to run diagnostic tests on a wide range of smart card and related products including:

  • Contact and contactless smart cards
  • Contact and contactless readers
  • USIM cards for mobile phones
  • Contactless front end components for NFC mobile phones
  • 13.56 Mhz proximity RF interfaces of NFC mobile phones

NomadLAB's autonomy, price and test features which are tailored to integrators and software developers make it the ideal diagnostic tool for companies who need to equip development and support teams. NomadLAB operates both as a PC peripheral (USB 2.0) and in a fully autonomous standalone mode for testing in the field. NomadLAB can be used and configured with Raisonance RGPA software and controlled by scripting like any Raisonance laboratory class tool. In standalone mode, users benefit from a large color display with touch controls to facilitate tool configuration and display of resulting communication traces. NomadLAB provides the right degree of visibility of communication at the protocol level, so that engineers can rapidly and easily understand where and when problems occur without getting bogged down in the dynamics of low-level signal behavior.

NomadLAB test results are easily shared between field support engineers, application software developers, hardware design teams and even test/certification laboratories. As a result, users at all phases of implementation collaborate on a specific case by sharing comparable test captures and the same protocol-level descriptions. NomadLAB test results are compatible with analysis features and capabilities of the RGPA software interface, the ProxiSPY and ContactLAB laboratory class protocol anlayzers.

This allows companies to shorten product fielding cycles and improve support by ensuring that engineers at all levels of product fielding can run interoperability tests, diagnose fundamental problems that occur at application and protocol levels, and share their test results with others.
